Privacy

What Plot Speaks keeps, and what it doesn't.

Plot Speaks is run by Volocent Labs LLC. Accounts are optional (sign in with Google to keep your progress), and there are no ads. Here is everything we store.

Last updated 16 October 2026.

Your conversation

Your chat stays with your assistant's company (Anthropic for Claude, OpenAI for ChatGPT, and so on), under that company's privacy terms. Plot Speaks never hears your voice. It receives only what the tools are given: the story name, the accused name, a rating or a submitted story; nothing else from your conversation.

When you play through the connector

We record anonymous play data, to learn which stories work:

We don't store your name, your account, transcripts, or your IP address with any of this.

When you submit a story

If you use submit_story, we store the story, its answer key, the name you chose to be credited as (a pen name is fine), the results of our automated content checks, a generated cover image, and the contact details you choose to give (optional, seen only by the reviewer). You get a claim code to withdraw or update it later. Through Claude, ChatGPT or another assistant, your IP address never reaches us (the request comes from the assistant's company), so a site-wide daily limit applies instead. Only when a story is submitted to the server directly, not through an assistant, do we keep a salted hash of the connecting IP address, never the address itself, to limit submissions to a few a day. A person reviews every submission. If it's approved, the story is published under CC BY-NC 4.0 with your credit name; your contact details never are.

This website

No ads, no analytics scripts and no tracking cookies. The only cookie is the sign-in cookie, set when you sign in, which keeps you signed in on this site. Signing in goes through Google: Google tells us your account id, email and name, and nothing else. The pages load fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google's servers for them. Plot Speaks is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes every request and keeps short-lived operational logs.

To see how the site and the connector are used, the server keeps daily tallies: how many times each page was viewed, and how many tool calls and errors there were. A tally is only a number per day; nothing about you, your browser or your address is stored with it.

How long we keep it

Deletion is automatic:

WhatHow long
Play logs (stories started, accusations, cues)90 days, then deleted automatically.
RatingsThe stars and the spoiler answer are kept. Any comment or feedback is deleted after 90 days.
Where a story or game stands (choices, scores, campaign worlds)Deleted with its play after 90 days; a campaign 90 days after its last session.
Your account and its history (only if you sign in)Kept until you delete the account, or two years after you last sign in. Sign-in sessions end after 90 days.
Rate-limit records (the salted IP hash)2 days, then deleted.
Daily tallies (page views, tool calls, errors: numbers only)About 13 months, then deleted.
Rejected submissions90 days, then deleted.
Approved stories and their credit nameFor as long as the story is published.

You can withdraw a story you submitted at any time with its claim code: ask your assistant to withdraw it, with Plot Speaks connected.
